Past Grand Knight Robert Greene joined Vera Amann and Paul Reinermann (posthumous) in receiving the Face of Pro-Life Award from Bishop Roger J Foys, DD. The Awards were presented at the Diocese’ “Life’s a Ball” celebration held on September 11, 2010. The celebration honored the 20th anniversary of the formation of the Diocese’ Pro-Life Commission. The purpose of the Commission is to assist the Bishop in carrying out the Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities of the USCCB.
Brother Greene of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Burlington has served on the Pro-Life Commission since its formation in 1990. He was the the first Executive Director of National Right to Life in 1973, and served on their executive committee until 1976. He served as President of Kentucky Right to Life from 1973 to 1976. He is a member the Pro-Life Committee of the Catholic Conference of Kentucky which he joined in 1984.
Brother Greene has served the Diocese of Covington as one of the first appointees to the Pro-Life Commission when it was formed in September 1990. He served as Chairman of the Commission for one year. He created and published the We Chose Life newsletter and remains active in publishing the We Chose Life feature each month in The Messenger. He helped organize the first bus trip from the Diocese to the March for Life in Washington, D.C., and attended the March annually until 5 years ago.
