A meeting of the Home Corp was held on October 21, 2010 at 7:30 PM in Acree Hall. A quorum was present in accord with the By-Laws of the Home Corp.
The Donut Trailer Maintenance, Hall Maintenance, and Scholarship Accounts were funded for the 2010-11 Fraternal Year.
The following changes were made to the Hall Rental Policy and will take effect January 1, 2011:
- The Hall Rental Fee Policy was changed to reflect a separation of the Hall Rental Fee and the Hall Manager’s Fee (which is paid to the Hall Manager for each rental). Therefore the total cost of Hall Rental is the Hall Rental Fee plus the Hall Manager’s Fee. The Hall Manager’s Fee remains $25. For non-member rentals, there will continue to be a refundable security deposit which remains at $50.
- The Hall Rental Fee for members was set at $25. The Hall Rental Fee for non-members was set at $225.
- The Hall Rental Policy for members was changed to require that the renting member must be present during the event. This will be reflected in the Rental Contract. A member who fails to follow this policy may lose the privilege of renting the Hall at the member Fee.
The Home Corp voted to pay for the cost of the “Assumption of Mary” statue that now graces our Hall.

So, does change #1 effectively raise the member rental rate to $50 and the non-member rate to $250? For change #3, I don’t see how this is new because the last time I rented the hall in October 2009, I remember seeing a condition in the contract stating that the member must be present at the hall at all times. If that’s incorrect, then what was the previous condition regarding member presence at the event?
You are correct about member rental. The total fee will be $50. Also, while I believe it was the case in the rental contract that the renting member must be present, this has been routinely violated, and not well enforced. Also, the Home Corp has not previously addressed what may happen if the agreement is violated in its policy. So this represents more of a clarification of policy, rather than a change.
Non-member rentals, as you note, are now $250, plus a refundable $50 security deposit.
