In response to the horrific recent destruction from the major earthquake and the resulting tsunami that struck Japan on March 11, the Supreme Council is working with the Knights of Columbus military councils in that country to determine key projects on which the Order can offer financial assistance.

Pope Benedict XVI has announced the elevation of 24 Bishops to the College of Cardinals. Among them are Archbishops Raymond Burke, prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, Donald Wuerl, archbishop of Washington, D.C., and Kazmierz Nycz, archbishop of Warsaw.
