I am organizing the Longbranch Elementary Annual Yard Sale (Union) and would love to have Holy Donuts as part of our event. The date is scheduled for May 14th from 8-12. The high school on campus is also hosting a yard sale. Is this a possibility?

Many thanks!

You are correct about member rental. The total fee will be $50. Also, while I believe it was the case in the rental contract that the renting member must be present, this has been routinely violated, and not well enforced. Also, the Home Corp has not previously addressed what may happen if the agreement is violated in its policy. So this represents more of a clarification of policy, rather than a change.

Non-member rentals, as you note, are now $250, plus a refundable $50 security deposit.

So, does change #1 effectively raise the member rental rate to $50 and the non-member rate to $250? For change #3, I don't see how this is new because the last time I rented the hall in October 2009, I remember seeing a condition in the contract stating that the member must be present at the hall at all times. If that's incorrect, then what was the previous condition regarding member presence at the event?

Sissy, you hit on precisely the point of our policy. The Council cannot maintain all the certifications necessary to run the trailer with minor youth, using Council members as the required supervision. Therefore the organizations supply manpower, Scouts, youth groups, etc., will be required to supply their own supervision, and to meet any and all requirements they are governed by.

Just to give a little clarification with regards to youth protection. The BSA recognizes the VIRTUS youth protection but the Diocese does not accept the BSA youth protection. If a troop or pack is chartered by a Catholic church all adult leaders must be trained in VIRTUS. I am updated by IHM if one of the leaders is not compliant with their updates and VIRTUS training. I think this is wonderful that the Knights want to make sure the kids are protected. If you have any questions please let me know.
